Overview
Modo Energy provides three products through the Terminal: Indices, Forecasts, and Insights. Each delivers specific data and analysis to help you benchmark performance, model revenues, and understand market dynamics.
Indices & Benchmarks
What are Indices & Benchmarks?
Modo Energy provides two types of performance measures:
Indices track market-wide revenue performance across renewable generation assets by aggregating individual revenues to measure the performance of a group of assets.
Benchmarks provide reference points for system-wide battery performance or revenue opportunity across markets, based on system-wide data or TB (Top-Bottom) spreads.
Modo Energy's Indices and Benchmarks are built on strictly governed, transparent, and reproducible methodologies and have become the industry standard reference point used by asset owners, lenders, and investors for valuation and reporting. Modo Energy indices and benchmarks are certified by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and IOSCO.
How do I use Indices & Benchmarks?
Compare performance – Benchmark your assets against market standards to identify optimization opportunities or underperformance
Manage risk and settle contracts - Use licensed indices as independent settlement references for power purchase agreements, performance guarantees, or financial hedging products
Track market trends – See how revenues are changing across different durations, locations, and strategies
Report to stakeholders – Use independent, third-party benchmarks for transparent performance reporting
Create custom views – Build custom indices based on specific criteria like location, owner, or asset type
Forecasts
What are Forecasts?
Modo Energy's Forecasts are bankable long-term revenue forecasts designed to support investment and financing decisions. Fully transparent models simulate real asset behavior across energy and ancillary service markets, enabling scenario analysis and revenue planning through to 2050.
How to use Forecasts
Model project revenues – Create custom forecasts with specific inputs (location, duration, cycling strategy) for development-stage projects
Stress-test assumptions – Compare multiple scenarios (base case, high case, low case) to understand revenue risk and opportunity
Support financing – Use forecasts trusted by leading banks and lenders to secure debt and equity financing
Access underlying data – Download power price forecasts and market assumptions (worldviews) that drive revenue projections
Important: Major banks approve Modo Energy forecasts for project underwriting. Investment funds use them to calculate net asset value (NAV). Get in touch with the team to find out more.
