How it works

When reading a research article, you can highlight any text you'd like to understand better. Hover over your the text you want to learn more about and you'll see options to ask the AI Analyst.

If you don't have an AI Analyst conversation open, clicking the button opens a new chat with your selected text ready to send.

If you already have a conversation open, you'll see two options:

  • Add to Current Chat β€” adds your selection to the existing conversation, useful for asking follow-up questions about the same topic

  • New AI Analyst Chat β€” starts a fresh conversation with your new selection

The message won't send automatically β€” you'll see it pre-populated in the chat box, giving you the opportunity to modify your question or add context before sending.

When to use this feature

The AI Analyst is particularly helpful when you encounter unfamiliar terminology or want to understand the implications of a specific finding. For example, if a research article mentions that "upfront capital requirements doubled to $1.9 million for a 200 MW project," you can highlight that text and ask the AI Analyst to explain what this means in practical terms for battery developers.

The AI Analyst draws on Modo Energy's research library to provide context-aware explanations relevant to the text you've highlighted.

Getting started

To use this feature:

  1. Open any research article in the Terminal

  2. Highlight the text you want explained

  3. Hover over your selection and click Ask AI Analyst or Add to Current Chat

  4. Review or edit the pre-populated message

  5. Press send to receive your explanation

Note: The AI Analyst appears in a chat panel alongside your research, so you can continue reading while getting explanations.
