In September 2021 Modo went passwordless!
When the flow for logging in or signing up works, it's amazing - fewer clicks and email verification alongside access, and the whole time you don't have to remember just another password.
But some of our users have had issues accessing the platform with the current authentication flow. We're always ready to support you with getting access, and please feel free to get in touch using our live chat (blue button in bottom right corner). But just in case, here's some of the more common issues and how to get around them:
1. "User does not exist"
2. Emails take a long time to get to you, and when you click it says the link hasn't worked
3. Manual verification is required
4. "This email has been already registered"
5. "Company doesn't exist on the platform yet"

1. "User does not exist"
Cause: The email address you are trying to use is not yet registered on the Modo platform. This can sometimes happen despite having registered before, you will still need to sign up again.
Solution: Click "Sign up for free" and register your email address instead (A step-by-step guide on signing up).
If your company has already signed up to a paid plan, you will be able to access it automatically (providing your email domains are the same).

2. Emails take a long time to get to you, and when you click it says the link hasn't worked
Our standard authentication flow has a verification email that only remains valid for 3 minutes.
If your email takes longer than this to come through, or you don't get around to clicking on the link (we understand you're busy!), then when you click on the link it won't work.
Please click 'resend the link' and then be patient.
The second email remains valid for 30 minutes. But, if you click on 'resend the link' before the email comes through then it immediately invalidates the incoming email, meaning that you need to wait for the email that is timed with the last click.

3. Manual verification is required
Cause: The email address you are trying to use is not a work or academic email address.
Solution: Click "Sign up for free" and register using a work or academic email address (A step-by-step guide on signing up).
If you believe you do need manual verification please go ahead and click the "Contact Us" button.

4. "This email has been already registered"
Cause: The email address you are trying to use is already registered on the Modo platform.
Solution: Click "Log in" and log in (A step-by-step guide to logging on).

5. "Company doesn't exist on the platform yet"
Cause: Someone from your company has already begun the process of registering but did follow through to completion.
Solution: Click "Contact Us" to request that your company registration is reset and begin the "Sign up for free" process again (A step-by-step guide on signing up).

6. Something else
If you're having trouble even getting to the stage where you receive a verification email, then it's worth checking with your IT team to see if Modo needs to be white-listed.
